Brighton 1-1 Burnley: Jeff Hendrick strikes late to deny Seagulls rare home win

Brighton vs Burnley
Premier League

Amex Stadium
(Att: 29398)

Jeff Hendrick strike denied Brighton manager Graham Potter as Burnley got a 1-1 draw in the Amex 26, a Premier League home triumph.
Neal Maupay appeared to have secured three points to the Seagulls later he volleyed the hosts in front (51) to his 100th appearance in English soccer.
However, Hendrick attack in the very first minute of injury time procured an unlikely point to refuse Brighton a first home league victory.
The effect leaves Potter’s side in place after an eighth house league game without a win while Burnley remain 12th with the two teams secured on five factors and currently without a win in four matches.
Burnley, who secured back wins over their opponents last year, made the brighter start and were unfortunate not to take the lead on 15 minutes when Shane Duffy’s scuffed clearance against Dwight McNeil’s cross deflected off Adam Webster and looped just on his own crossbar.
The people came after again prior to his dragged shot only overlooked the Ashley Barnes as Jack Cork chested down James Tarkowski’s header in a McNeil set piece.
But the hosts climbed into the competition and created chances of their own. Solly March tested Nick Pope in his post ahead of the England goalkeeper did well to maintain Glenn Murray’s curled shot on the stroke of half-time following a disguised Pascal Gross pass.
Potter clearly advised his players to continue in the same vein following the restart as half an hour, the hosts have been ahead. Matt Lowton had gone close to slicing the ball in his own net when Maupay tested Pope at his near post after being released down the left Gross.
Burnley’s reprieve was short-lived as another attack, the cross from the left of March was acrobatically after he’d gained a yard of space on Tarkowski hooked from Maupay beyond Pope.
Davy Propper came near doubling the home side’s lead when his header in Murray’s cross flashed just over the bar, before Chris Wood wasn’t able to direct Ashley Westwood’s wayward volley on target at an infrequent sight of Brighton’s goal for the visitors.
It looked like the hosts had done enough to secure a first home win since defeating Huddersfield 1-0 on March 2, but that changed since the match headed to stoppage time.
Hendrick had played four minutes of Premier League soccer this term prior to his second-half introduction but on his flight look that was upper , he showed no signs of rust as he bumped onto the lay-off to burst Burnley level of Matej Vydra.
Graham Potter:”We would have enjoyed the 3 points and apart from the initial 25 minutes when Burnley were the better team, we changed things around and from there I believed we had been the most likely team to win. They scored from their only shot and occasionally that happens.
“We place a lot into the match, and we are disappointed to develop a point but with respect to the performance it had been very promising. We needed to score the goal, and there standard. That’s the reality of this.
“Burnley are always in the game with the use of their center forwards and how that they defend so deep, it’s not easy to create chances but that I thought we did this. But it is a sore you to concede so overdue.”
Sean Dyche:”It was a fantastic finish to a hard performance. We had been great for the first 25 minutes and were the better side. Chances were created by us, and we asked questions that were enough but we weren’t clinical. They then shifted to a format that was familiar to year, along with also the game levelled out to half-time.
“From the second halfwe did not get going at all and they were the better side. They went ahead but yet again the belief in our team was on display. The modifications we made affected the game.
“I don’t want to be too critical about the players for the next half since it was the first dip we have had in performance this year, so we come away with a great point in the feeling that we weren’t at our best.”
Gross was left from Potter’s beginning line-up at the previous two Premier League matches, but as the chief creative spark of Brighton , responsibilities were assumed by the German more in Leandro Trossard’s absence.
Gross made a stand-out performance full of guile and energy. This was his pass which resulted in Glen Murray’s opener just before the break and substitute Aaron Connolly had the chance to seal the points on from a different bit of unselfish play in the prior Ingolstadt midfielder.
Brighton traveling to face Newcastle following Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League (kick-off: 5.30pm). Burnley sponsor Norwich on precisely the identical day (kick-off: 3pm).
